From 25 May until the 8th September 2019 the Fortress of Montepulciano hosts the exhibition ”Leonardo in Valdichiana: the design of the territory and the science of water”, which highlights the work of cartographer carried out by the great genius.
The exhibition itinerary shows to the public the realization of the Valdichiana map, made by Leonardo between 1502 and 1503 when he was at the service of Cesare Borgia.
It is a paper that stands out for the richness of its topographic and hydrographic contents but also for the particular bird’s-eye representation that makes it a sort of a first aerial photography.
